4000/8000 waterstone in blue plastic box                                                                                   $65.00

We recommend the Norton 4000/8000 waterstone as an excellent value and entree to the world

of waterstones.  Soak the stone for a few minutes in water, work up a slurry, and use this stone

as a finishing stone to maintain a sharp edge at it's sharpest!

1000/4000 waterstone in blue plastic box                                                                                   $54.00

We recommend the 1000/4000 stone for straight razor users who progressively hone

from the 4000 grit side and then go to an 8000 belgian yellow coticule.  The 1000 grit side will

give the capability of reviving a really dull or abused razor back to a reasonable edge.

Norton Prep Stone                                                                                                                         $15.00

The Norton Prep Stone is an artificial nagura stone for starting a slurry on artificial waterstones.  The slurry is what does the honing and the prep stone is a fast way to start the slurry. NOTE: Norton changed suppliers for these stones in April and prices increased significantly.

The Norton waterstones are artificial waterstones that are an excellent value and a good introduction to the use of waterstones in general.  These stones should be soaked in water for about 5 minutes prior to use and then maintained wet with a spritzer  filled with plain water to keep the abrasive slurry thin.  It is important to NOT keep the stones soaking in water constantly as they can lose the bond between the two halves of the stone and the stone will fall apart.
