Diamond Honing Cones - this set of 3 tapered cones cover all sizes of curved steel such as recurve knives, gouges, wood turning tools, and other curved steel surfaces. The set comes in a beautiful, hinged wooden box for $75.00.
DMT® also makes stones with their patented and recessed round holes ("interrupted surface"). The recess catches the "swarf" and aids in sharpening. Swarf is the dirty mixture of water and steel. We call these W-series stones, "holy stones", due to the holes. . . .

The Belgians recommend DMT® stones for flattening the Belgian hones. They would also work well for other waterstones such as the Norton waterstone although one can also use the cheaper Norton Lapping stone for that purpose (for Norton stones only)..
